BYD to launch 2026 Qin L and Qin Plus PHEVs with 210 km electric range on January 8

BYD will officially launch the 2026 Qin L DM-i and 2026 Qin Plus DM-i long-range plug-in hybrid sedans in China on January 8, according to Autohome. Both updated models have already arrived at dealerships ahead of their market release. The confirmed core update significantly increases the CLTC-rated pure-electric driving range to a maximum of 210 km, positioning the new versions as extended-range options within BYD’s compact and midsize sedan lineup.

The 2026 Qin L DM-i retains the current model’s exterior and interior design, with no reported changes to body structure or styling. The update focuses on configuration and hardware upgrades rather than visual revisions. The model will be equipped with BYD’s DiLink 6.0 in-vehicle infotainment system and the DiPilot “God’s Eye C” driver assistance package. This system supports highway navigation assist, automated parking, and urban memory navigation functions, as confirmed by the source.

In terms of dimensions, the 2026 Qin L DM-i long-range version measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm. These figures are unchanged from the current Qin L DM-i on sale in China, confirming that the update does not involve any platform or body-size adjustments.

Powertrain updates are centered on battery capacity. The 2026 Qin L DM-i long-range version is equipped with a 26.6 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC pure-electric range of up to 210 km. The source also confirms that the top-spec Qin L DM-i variant will be fitted with BYD’s DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system, representing a hardware upgrade over lower trims.

The 2026 Qin Plus DM-i long-range version follows a similar update strategy. Exterior and interior designs remain consistent with the current Qin Plus DM-i, while the infotainment system receives an upgrade in line with the Qin L DM-i. The Qin Plus DM-i long-range version continues to use a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor. The engine produces a maximum output of 74 kW and 126 Nm of torque. Like the Qin L DM-i, the updated Qin Plus DM-i offers a maximum CLTC-rated pure electric range of 210 km.

Both models will enter the Chinese market as higher electric-range variants within BYD’s DM-i sedan portfolio when sales begin on January 8.
