BYD will launch the 2026 Song Pro DM-i long-range version in China on January 10, as reported by Auto-home. The upcoming variant is positioned as an addition to the existing Song Pro DM-i lineup. It is expected to focus on extending pure-electric driving range through a larger battery pack in the compact plug-in hybrid SUV segment.

The current generation of the Song Pro DM-i was officially launched in China on September 23, 2024. This introduction marked the market debut of the second-generation Song Pro DM-i, which replaced earlier Song Pro DM-i variants and adopted BYD’s updated DM plug-in hybrid system.

Sales data from Chinese automotive sources indicate that the Song Pro DM-i has maintained a steady market presence. The Song Pro DM series recorded 21,362 units in November 2025, bringing the year-to-date total to approximately 211,611 units. The broader BYD Song family, which includes the Song L EV, Song L DM-i, Song Plus EV, Song Plus DM-i, and Song Pro DM-i, sold 55,169 units in December 2025, contributing to a total of 788,003 units sold in China for 2025. This positioned the Song series as BYD’s best-selling model family for the year, despite a year-on-year decline in monthly sales.

In October 2025, BYD introduced the 2026 Song Pro DM-i lineup, with official prices ranging from 102,800 yuan (14,700 USD) to 125,800 yuan (18,000 USD). The update included several configuration changes, such as an all-around parking camera system, external voice prompts, gesture-based navigation activation, and an active front grille. A new exterior paint option was also added to the range.

The current 2026 Song Pro DM-i is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with an electric motor. Under CLTC testing standards, the model delivers a pure electric driving range of 133 km and a combined driving range of 1,508 km. Fuel consumption under NEDC conditions is rated at 3.2 liters per 100 kilometers, and the model adopts a column-mounted gear selector.

According to Auto-home, the upcoming long-range version is expected to adopt a larger battery pack, with reference to the Song L DM-i, which achieves up to 200 km of CLTC pure-electric range in its highest configuration. BYD has not disclosed confirmed technical specifications or pricing for the long-range Song Pro DM-i ahead of its January 10 launch.
