The winner of a $500,000 lottery prize won in Rosedale said he is planning to treat himself.
Michael W. bought the winner at the Esso Station on Yale Road East in Rosedale, for the Nov. 21, 2025 draw. He had chosen the $1 Extra add-on, on the Lotto Max. And those turned out to be the winning numbers.
He recalled the moment he realized he won, by using the BCLC app to check his ticket.
“I was on the couch at home,” he said, via BCLC in a press release sent out Jan. 5. “I was just smiling, thinking about what this means.”
Then he shared the news with his mom.
“She had a bigger smile, the biggest smile!”
But he also said he doesn’t have a ready-to-go bucket list of things to do with such a big windfall. He said he will treat himself, and perhaps buy a new car.
Last year, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $51 million in winnings from the Extra and more than $248 million from Lotto Max.
