PizzaExpress Singapore shuts Millenia Walk and Scotts Square outlets; two operating stores remain

[SINGAPORE] Casual British restaurant chain PizzaExpress has shut its outlets at Millenia Walk and Scotts Square, leaving just two stores in operation.

In a Facebook post on Jan 1, the franchise said the two outlets had ceased operations from Dec 31, 2025. It has two remaining stores at Duo Galleria and The Star Vista.

PizzaExpress’ Millenia Walk outlet – its newest location – had been operating for less than a year, having opened in January 2025.

The chain previously shut its Holland Village outlet in January 2024 after six years. In April that year, it opened a new outlet at The Star Vista.

Founded in London, PizzaExpress opened its first Singapore outlet at Scotts Square in 2016.

The global pizza chain – which serves handcrafted thin-crust pizzas – has more than 500 restaurants across the United Kingdom, Europe, Hong Kong, India and the Middle East.

PizzaExpress has run into financial difficulties in recent years.

In 2020, the company said it would close 15 per cent of its restaurants in the UK as part of a restructuring deal to overhaul its external debt, which stood at £735 million (S$1.3 billion) at the time, according to reports.

Its then-owner Hony Capital – a Chinese private equity group – said it had started a sale process to find a new buyer for the company.

This includes the shuttering of several Kith Cafe outlets, with its West Coast store closing on Monday after its Millennia Walk venue closed last October, The Straits Times reported. The cafe chain has two stores remaining in operation in Singapore, down from a peak of 10.
