The Kamloops RCMP is investigating the sudden death of a man in the city’s West End, and police are treating the death as a homicide.
Muhammad “Ash” Zafar was located in the West End neighbourhood on Monday, Jan. 6. Police responded to a home on Dalgleish Drive for a well-being call and located Zafar deceased inside the residence, according to Kamloops and District Crime Stoppers.
The area remains secured while investigators continue to examine the scene.
Police are treating the investigation as a homicide based on the evidence gathered so far. The circumstances currently appear to be isolated and there is no indication of an ongoing risk to the public, according to a Crime Stoppers social media post.
The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to establish a timeline of Zafar’s movements and interactions leading up to his death.
“We are asking anyone who had recent contact with Mr. Zafar, or who may have information about his social network, activities, or associates, to reach out to investigators,” said Staff Sgt. Kevin McIntyre of the Kamloops RCMP. “Even small details can assist us in understanding the events leading up to this incident.”
Specifically, police are seeking:
• Individuals who saw or spoke with Zafar between Jan. 2 and Jan. 5, 2026
• Anyone who observed unusual activity in the Dalgleish Drive/West End area
• Members of Zafar’s social or professional circles who may have relevant information that have not yet spoken with police
