JD.com and Unitree Robotics will open their first joint offline experience store in Beijing tomorrow. The store signals a shift for consumer robots from primarily online showcases to in-person experiences, allowing customers to see, interact with and purchase products on site, as companies seek to accelerate adoption by lowering barriers to hands-on use.
The store moves beyond a traditional retail model by covering the full chain from experience to purchase and after-sales service. Customers can place orders directly in-store or scan product QR codes to access JD.com’s mini programme, with options for in-store pickup or home delivery via JD Logistics.
Details: Located at JD MALL in Beijing’s Chaoyang district, the store will showcase a range of Unitree products, including the Go2 quadruped robotic dog and the G1 humanoid robot. Unitree Robotics had previously launched its products on JD.com’s e-commerce platform, and the opening of the offline store is expected to further expand the brand’s visibility.
- The G1 humanoid robot, which has previously appeared as a performer at a Wang Leehom concert, is capable of executing complex movements such as dance routines, martial arts and boxing. The Go2 quadruped robot, equipped with functions including following, obstacle avoidance, handshaking and backflips, is designed for interactive demonstrations.
- The store also features a hands-on experience area where visitors, guided by engineers, can operate the robots in simulated scenarios such as home cleaning, elderly care and educational support, offering a practical view of how such technologies could be applied in everyday settings.
- JD.com also provides services including fast delivery, professional setup guidance and after-sales maintenance, and has introduced a robot rental option aimed at lowering the barrier for first-time users.
Context: In August, at the 2025 World Robot Conference, JD.com appeared as the event’s exclusive global strategic partner, alongside Chinese robotics companies including Unitree Robotics, AgiBot, Tiangong, Zhongqing Robotics and Noetix Robotics, and unveiled its “Intelligent Robotics Industry Acceleration Plan.”
- The plan said JD.com will invest more than 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) worth of resources over the next three years to help 100 intelligent robotics brands each achieve transaction volumes exceeding 1 billion yuan ($140 million).
- The initiative aims to accelerate the development of the intelligent robotics industry and the rollout of practical use cases, and to tackle challenges including slow commercialisation and difficulties in large-scale deployment.
